Tumblr
So, I thought about it...for five seconds. I downloaded Tumblr and thought this might be a better option for me, but I've got to be honest, I have no idea what Tumblr is all about. Out of my three readers...anyone know?
Blogging Should be Easier
As some of you know I used to have an actual website (www.tresfetch.com. If you go there now you will see that I no longer own it...don't buy it! Unless you are buying it as a present for me!) for the first year of that website I was able to post what I wanted when I wanted...then my trusty (read: totally untrustworthy) Dell decided to crash and I took the leap into The wonderful world of Apple.
I thought to myself, "Great, I've got a Mac, surely my website skills and posting will greatly improve now." Little did I know, I would have no idea how to continue the upkeep of my website now that I no longer had the same software to create and edit my site (it was PC software, go figure). So I started using Blogger... www.sotresfetch.blogspot.com. This was a great solution when I was working at Comedy Central and I had the time to update my blog daily, but once I switched jobs and eventually came to land at my final resting ground (yes sometimes it does feel like I am going to die there) the window of time to blog was becoming smaller and smaller until it was nothing more than a space where you could slip a piece of loose-leaf paper through it...as long as it didn't have writing on it. So here I was with a conundrum. I knew I had fans...(3) and I knew I needed my outlet so I continued to try and find a better way to blog.
Enter stage left: BethandTaxes.blogspot.com. (I needed to ditch sotresfetch, which was probably stupid since people used to read it, because I didn't want to write celebrity gossip anymore...yeah, in retrospect, I should have stuck with the site name!) I looked into mobile blogging. That worked for about 3 or 4 posts, but I was sure if I kept up blogging on my blackberry and writing my long winded posts I was sure to get carpal tunnel...or cell phone thumb...or something as equally as scary and ridiculous. I needed something else.
Enter...iPad. "Great," I thought again to myself, "Apple solves all problems! Surely there will be an App for that!" Maybe I should have included, "Please Apple Powers That Be, I would like a FREE App for that." Was there an App for that? Sure there were a couple, but most of them I had to pay for and they included much more than I needed. I only need one App that does ONE thing...lets me post to my blog. "Just use the Internet!" I am sure that is what most of you are thinking right now. "The girl has a stinking iPad, just use the Internet and go on blogger.com." Well, my iPad doesn't have 3G, I have WiFi and sometimes (final resting ground) I can't get on to certain sites...like blogger.com. In addition, I am pretty sure that something will happen to my fingertips from using the touch screen for such long posts.
Basically...I want my site back www.tresfetch.com (somehow I feel more legit with a site, rather than a blog...I mean, really EVERYONE has a blog...and I am beginning to think with things like Twitter, Tumblr, even Facebook, I am becoming more and more "passe" with every blog posts. I also want to figure out how to update that site from both my iPad and my Mac. I guess I will have to hit the google running (Like that? A dorky way to say "Hit the ground running". I am full of them people, full of them!) and figure it all out if I want to do what I want to do. I think I owe it to my fans (all 3 of you!)
