Today's question: What do you DVR that you are ashamed of?
We all have them, and I am not talking about the ones you wouldn't want your little cousin to see on your DVR list. Shows we DVR that we are unabashedly ashamed of. Oxymoron, you ask? Not at all, because lets be honest we have no shame in DVRing these embarrassing shows until someone comes over, hits the DVR button on our remote and asks, "What the hell is (insert embarrassing show title here)?" For guys it's something like a cooking show, or one of the many "Real Housewives" (you get extra bonus points in the embarrassing pot if it is the New Jersey or Miami season...although most guys will try and use the excuse of "well Scottie Pippen is on it!) For girls it can be any number of shows, but I bet the genre that wins out the most would be children's programing...when you don't have a child! (Or is that just me?) Maybe it's "The League" decidedly a show made for men, but still loved by women. Maybe it is the new 90210, because let's be honest...nothing will be as good as the original! Really anything on the WB that anyone over the age of 16 watches!
For me, it is hands down...yes I am going to reveal it regardless of the shame I am about to be slammed with...Wizards of Waverly Place. I mean it is one thing to catch a really bad show on TV and watch it, if you do this you can always say, "There was nothing else on" when you get caught. But DVRing the show you are ashamed of brings the shame to a whole new level. You DVR this show, which means you do not catch it by chance, in fact you set your TV to record every episode to ensure that you do not miss a single episode! And, if you are totally in denial about getting caught, you will even extend the end time to make sure you don't miss even one second of this show. When you watch it, it's a little like "closet eating". You settle in, so excited, so satisfied, but at the same time with an open ears and your head on a swivel in order to not "get caught"!
Even though we all do it, and even though we are all ashamed of it, it turns out to be either the best 22 or 48 minutes of our lives...every week! So what is your guilty pleasure show? Should we even feel guilty about it, or should we let our TV Freak Flags fly?
